Design Process – the Journey begins

Home design is the first step to making your dream home a reality. Les Bellamy, CEO of Bellamy Homes is the principal designer. He has designed over 200 homes in the Okanagan Valley. While each home is unique, the overall design process follows the same process. The result is a full set of working construction documents and permit drawings.

Your input, at the beginning of the design stage is critical. Utilizing a design questionnaire, we ask questions that reflect your needs, desires and lifestyle. We’ll encourage you to set up a free account on houzz.com and create idea books. Be sure to add Bellamy Homes as a collaborator and label your idea books with your name and room/area. This becomes an invaluable tool for sharing your style tastes with our team.

From the information we’ve gathered from you, we create a preliminary main-floor drawing. You can change any number of items you like on this preliminary drawing at no additional charge. We then create the final ‘main floor drawing’ for your approval. Changes to this drawing will be charged at our hourly rate.

From the approved main floor drawing, we create a preliminary drawing of the additional floors of your home. Again, you can change any number of items you like on this preliminary drawing at no additional charge. Then we create the final ‘2nd floor drawing’ for your approval. Changes to this drawing will be charged at our hourly rate.

The final phase focuses on the home’s exterior. Knowing the interior layout helps complete your home’s exterior look and feel. Again, you can change any number of items you like on this preliminary drawing at no additional charge. We will then create the ‘final drawing’ for your approval. Changes to this drawing will be charged at our hourly rate.

If you choose our interior designer, we begin working with you to create your cabinetry, built-ins and any other design that will impact the structural drawings. Interior design services are available at an hourly rate.

Once all the required changes have been made and the plans have been approved by you, we produce full construction and permit drawings ready for the build process. Note that any changes beyond this point can become costly.
